Empowering Parents: Mental Health & Addiction Awareness Session

Don Bosco High School, Borivali, organised an insightful Parent Awareness Session on 11th July 2026 on the theme "Navigating Teenage Years: Mental Health & Addiction Awareness." The interactive session, conducted by Ms. Sonal Sheth from Prafulta, aimed to equip parents with a deeper understanding of adolescent mental health and the challenges teenagers face today.Through engaging discussions, reflective activities, and a thought-provoking presentation, parents explored topics such as emotional well-being, peer pressure, body image, anxiety, depression, behavioural changes, and the importance of effective parent-child communication. The facilitator encouraged parents to listen without judgement, validate their children's emotions, and create a supportive home environment where teenagers feel heard and understood.Parents were also introduced to the school's year-long mental health programme and the counselling services available through Prafulta. The session concluded with an interactive role-play, distribution of informative handouts, and the introduction of the school's new counsellor, Ms. Neeshka Kothare, along with Senior Counsellor Ms. Megha Chondenkar.The programme was a meaningful initiative that strengthened the partnership between parents and the school, reaffirming the shared commitment to nurturing emotionally healthy, confident, and resilient young individuals
