A Tapestry of Freedom: Independence Day Celebrations at Don Bosco High SchoolDon Bosco High School, Borivali (W) celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2026 with an atmosphere charged with patriotic fervour, pride and heartfelt gratitude for the freedom our nation cherishes.The programme commenced at 7:45 a.m. in the School Hall, with the students of Class X gathering in anticipation of a memorable celebration. The morning unfolded with the solemn Guard of Honour, followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, as the Tricolour soared proudly against the morning sky. The sight evoked a profound sense of pride, reminding everyone of the sacrifices and struggles that paved the way for India's freedom.The ceremony continued with an inspiring address by the Rector, Fr., whose words echoed with wisdom and patriotism. The students then lent their voices to a stirring Patriotic Song, filling the hall with a powerful sense of national pride. This was followed by a thought-provoking Hindi Speech, which beautifully highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities that accompany freedom. Another soulful patriotic rendition further heightened the spirit of the occasion.The Chief Guest, Mrs. Helen Fonseca, then addressed the gathering with an inspiring message on freedom, unity, responsibility and love for the nation. Her meaningful words encouraged the students to look beyond the celebration itself and understand that true patriotism lies in becoming responsible, compassionate and committed citizens. Her address left the young minds inspired to contribute positively to the nation’s future.Adding colour, rhythm and exuberance to the celebration was a vibrant Patriotic Dance, which received enthusiastic appreciation from the gathering. The performance transformed the stage into a dazzling celebration of India's rich spirit and cultural diversity.The programme drew towards a graceful close with the Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Rector, teachers and students whose collective efforts transformed the occasion into a meaningful and memorable celebration.As a fitting finale, Ms. Alexinha conducted a short drill followed by a series of energetic exercises, bringing together patriotism, discipline and physical well-being. The lively session provided an invigorating conclusion to the morning’s proceedings.The programme concluded at 8:45 a.m., leaving behind more than memories—it left hearts filled with gratitude for freedom, pride in the nation and a renewed commitment to uphold the values that make India strong and united.Jai Hind!
