CPR Training Session for Students
On 24th September, the Past Pupils’ Association, with the support of the P. J. Mehta Charitable Trust, organised a CPR and Basic Life Support training session for the SSC board students of Standards 9th and 10th.
The session was conducted with the objective of equipping students with essential first-aid and life-saving skills that can be of great importance during a medical emergency. During the workshop, the students were introduced to the basic principles of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and were taught how to respond when a person becomes unresponsive or when their breathing or heartbeat stops.
The training focused on helping the students understand what immediate steps should be taken in an emergency and how to provide basic assistance until professional medical help arrives. The session was designed to give young students the confidence and awareness required to respond appropriately in critical situations.
Speaking on the importance of CPR and first-aid awareness, Dr. Alpa Mehta of LLSPI – Life Line Safety & Prevention Initiative for continuous medical rescue training, emphasised that medical emergencies can occur without warning. When professional medical assistance is not immediately available, having basic knowledge of first aid and CPR can play a crucial role in sustaining a person’s breathing and circulation until medical experts arrive.
Dr. Nimesh P. Mehta further highlighted the importance of imparting these skills to young people, stating that providing future citizens with basic life-saving knowledge can help improve a patient’s chances of survival during an emergency.
The session was an informative and valuable experience for the students, giving them practical awareness of how their timely response and basic knowledge of CPR could potentially make a difference in a life-threatening situation. The initiative reflects the commitment of the Past Pupils’ Association and the P. J. Mehta Charitable Trust towards promoting not only academic development but also health, safety, and essential life skills among students.
